The Connect4Change (C4C) consortium was formed in 2011, bringing together the work of Dutch development organizations that specialize in information and communications technology (ICT) including IICD, Akvo, Cordaid, Edukans, ICCO and Text to Change. The main objective of the consortium is to seek innovative solutions based on internet and mobile phones to accelerate the achievement of development goals and bring poverty and exclusion to an end.[1] The C4C consortium is actively involved in several sectors, including health, economic development, and education. For the latter, the consortium developed the ICT4Education program, which aims to improve the quality and equality of the education system through the integration of ICT in primary, secondary, teacher education and vocational training. In this work, the program places special emphasis on the empowerment of women and girls. Over a four-year period from 2011 to 2015, Edukans and IICD – supported by Akvo and Text to Change – implemented the ICT4Education program in 8 countries: Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Uganda, Zambia, Bolivia and Peru.
